The First Service

Church members of the Coney Island Gospel Assembly at 2828 Neptune Avenue in Coney Island gathered for the first time since the storm ravaged their church and community. The Church became one of the busiest community hubs for donation distribution and coordination after the storm, even though the church lost most of its first floor to flooding and was still without power or water, running off generators. The church members took a brief hour to pause together on Sunday, less than two weeks after the storm, before starting up their around-the-clock relief work again. The daughter of the pastor, Bianca, sang at the conclusion of the service.
