The Best Place to Be

My biggest fear was the electricity going out. I decided the best place to be was with other people in the community sharing the experiences, good or bad.

A friend just opened a museum on Avenue C and he was trying to rescue the museum because the basement was flooded up to the ceiling.

People were outside. There was a community feeling like the East Village was in the old days. Someone was playing the accordion...people were singing. We set up a center in the next days using our energy bikes to charge people's cell phones. I felt really good that I had a purpose, that I could help out.

The lights came back on. Then everyone went back into their homes.
