The Ruined of Rockaway

So where does all the debris, trash, excavated homes and sand go after a natural disaster?? Neighbouring beach, Jacob Riis National Park. The parking lot of this historical New York beach has become the temporary dumping ground for the ‘ruined of Rockaway.’
Half a mile long, a quarter of a mile wide and up to 30 feet high, approximately 5000 tons of peoples homes and belongings lay resting before being transferred to Staten Island and then on to barges sent up the Hudson River to a landfill near Albany.
